PRC Spring Newsletter
Note From Our CEO
Dear Friends,
As we reflect on the past couple of months, I’ve been thinking about something simple yet important; how easily we move through our days without always taking the time to truly notice one another.
Our Programs Manager shared a thoughtful perspective on the dedication of our team and the importance of consistency in delivering quality care. That message continues to resonate. The strength of our work is built not only on systems and standards, but on the daily commitment of the people who show up with care, attentiveness, and professionalism.
Our work at PRC is not only about meeting needs, but about paying attention. It is about understanding what is said and what may go unspoken. Small moments of presence and consistency are often what make the greatest difference in someone’s life.
I continue to be encouraged by the way our team embodies these values, creating an environment where residents feel supported, respected, and at home.
We are equally grateful for the trust of families and partners who walk alongside us. Quality care is always a shared effort, built through communication, trust, and a common goal of ensuring dignity and well-being for every individual.
As we move forward, we remain committed to providing care that is thoughtful, individualized, and grounded in respect.
With gratitude,
Guillaume Ishimwe | CEO
Wellness Corner
This month in our Wellness Corner, we explore a simple phrase we hear often: “I’m fine.”
While it may sound reassuring, it does not always tell the full story. Sometimes, it is a way of maintaining independence, protecting dignity, or avoiding placing concern on others.
Taking a moment to slow down, observe, and respond with care can create space for more meaningful connection and understanding.
Family Spotlight: Rachel & Connor’s Journey
At PRC, every individual we support has a unique story and so do the families who walk alongside them. Rachel Ortiz shares her journey as a parent and what support has meant for their family.
Connor’s World
Connor is an incredibly unique and special young person who experiences the world in a deeply sensory and meaningful way. He finds joy in things that many of us might overlook like the lights and sounds of a car wash, music, and being out in the community.
Being his parent has reshaped the way I see the world. He has taught me patience, perspective, and how to celebrate progress in ways I never would have understood before.
The Caregiving Journey
Caregiving has been a journey of growth, advocacy, and constant learning. There have been moments of uncertainty and exhaustion, but also moments of profound joy and connection.
Over time, I’ve learned how important it is to build a strong support system and to trust others who are part of Connor’s care team.
Why PRC?
We were introduced to PRC through our case manager while exploring options for additional support. From the beginning, there was a genuine sense of care and understanding. The team took the time to get to know Connor as an individual not just a list of needs. That level of respect and attentiveness made a meaningful difference in our decision.
The Impact
Since joining PRC, there has been meaningful growth in Connor’s comfort and engagement in the community. He appears more confident in familiar routines and experiences, with a greater sense of stability overall.
What stands out most is the consistency and kindness of the staff. He is treated with patience and dignity, and there is a clear effort to meet him where he is while encouraging growth.
A Message to Other Families
You are not alone — even when it feels that way. Finding the right support can take time, but it’s worth continuing the search. When you find a team that truly sees your loved one and works with you as a partner, it can make a meaningful difference for your entire family.

Testimonial
We are grateful for the trust families and partners place in us. Here is a recent message shared about one of our homes:
“I just wanted to share how well supported [S]* is here. It’s a great home with great staff. They care deeply about her, are well trained, and extremely attentive. They truly go above and beyond. I wish every home in the state had this same care.”
Feedback like this reflects the commitment and care our team brings each day, and we are proud of the difference they continue to make.

Did You Know?
In Maine, especially in communities like Bangor and the surrounding areas, access to healthcare often looks a little different? As one of the most rural states in the country, many communities face barriers such as distance, transportation, and limited provider availability. According to the Maine Policy Review (2025), over one in four adults in rural Maine have delayed medical care due to access-related challenges. This is why consistent, community-based care and strong support systems play such an important role in everyday well-being.
